A Welcome from the PAstor

Dear Friends,

Welcome to the internet ministry of the Central Baptist Church! I am delighted that you would visit with us. Praise the Lord that He continues to work and bless in our church! For over 50 years, the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ has been preached from the pulpit at CBC. A comment that we hear often is, “When I leave CBC, it actually feels like I’ve been in church.” I take this as a great compliment. In a day when many churches have changed, we are clinging to the “Old Paths.”

Jeremiah 6:16; “Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.”

My heartfelt prayer is for people to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour and become actively involved in a Bible-believing, Bible-preaching church that cares for them.

We make no apology for strong preaching, sound doctrine, and devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ and His Word. While you are here, I hope you will listen to one of our messages. It is our sincere desire to lift up the name of Jesus Christ. Come visit us soon!

History

Central Baptist Church had its earliest beginnings in 1963 when under the authority of Bethlehem Baptist Temple of Ludlow, Kentucky; a mission was established in Mt. Vernon. Originally, members of the Bethlehem Baptist Mission assembled in a home. Soon, however, a storefront was secured on West Main Street in the Fairground Hill area. On June 5, 1964, the Bethlehem Baptist Mission was organized into Central Baptist Church with 20 charter members.

In September 1964, the church purchased 1.35 acres on which the church building and parsonage now stand. The members and visitors of the Central Baptist Church enjoy church “the way it used to be,” with Spirit-filled singing and Old Fashioned Bible Preaching. Currently, Central Baptist Church directly supports over 70 missionaries throughout America and across the world.

On Sunday mornings there are classes for every age including several adult classes to choose from, and nursery is provided for every service.  Sunday School is a "Main Event" at CBC with exciting classes focused on teaching the eternal truths of the Word of God.  CBC has an afternoon bus program where every week children and adults come to an afternoon Sunday school and then stay for our 6:00 evening service.
